Sama Aluminium Announces New Facility Investment Including Cold Mill Line
In July 2023, Sama Aluminium announced a new facility investment plan, including the installation of a Cold Mill Line, to ensure stable raw material procurement and smooth operations for the production of aluminium foil used in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). The total investment amounts to KRW 117 billion, and the funds will be sourced from the proceeds of the third-party allotment capital increase completed on January 27, 2023. The new facility will be installed on the site of Sama Aluminium’s current aluminium paste plant at the Poseung plant, after relocating the paste plant to an adjacent area. The operation of the new facility will be handled by an external partner with technical expertise, while Sama Aluminium will supply the raw materials under a collaborative model. Through this investment, Sama Aluminium aims to strengthen its competitiveness in the LIB aluminium foil market and establish a more stable and efficient production system.

Sama Aluminium Signs Long-Term Supply Agreement with LG Energy Solution
On January 30, 2023, Sama Aluminium signed a long-term supply agreement with LG Energy Solution Ltd., which had previously participated in Sama’s third-party allotment capital increase. The agreement spans eight years, from January 27, 2023, to December 31, 2030, and is valued at approximately KRW 695 billion. Under the agreement, Sama Aluminium will supply aluminium foil for lithium-ion battery (LIB) cathode current collectors, with delivery sites including LG Energy Solution’s facilities in Korea, North America, Europe, and other global locations. Through this agreement, Sama Aluminium has secured a stable foundation for the long-term supply of LIB aluminium foil, while LG Energy Solution strengthens its global supply chain reliability. With this new contract, following the KRW 215 billion long-term supply agreement signed with France-based ACC in 2022, Sama Aluminium has now secured a total of KRW 910 billion in long-term supply contracts through 2030.

Sama Aluminium Announces Capital Increase and Convertible Bond Issuance through Third-Party Allotment
Date: December 22, 2022 On December 22, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., the Board of Directors of Sama Aluminium resolved to proceed with a capital increase and the issuance of convertible bonds through a third-party allotment. The decision was made in response to the anticipated rise in demand for aluminium foil used as cathode current collectors in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), driven by the global growth of the electric vehicle market. The capital raised will be used to fund related facility investments and to establish strategic partnerships. The third-party allotment will involve both strategic investors (SI) and financial investors (FI). Strategic investors include LG Energy Solution Ltd. (LGES) and Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC), while the financial investor is JKL ESG Future Mobility Value Chain Private Equity Fund (hereinafter referred to as JKL Partners). <Details of the Capital Increase via Third-Party Allotment> 1. Sama Aluminum Signs Long-Term Supply Agreement Worth KRW 215 Billion with France's ACC
On May 13, 2022, Sama Aluminium signed a long-term supply agreement with Automotive Cells Company SE (ACC), a battery manufacturer based in France. The agreement will be in effect for nine years, from May 11, 2022, to December 31, 2030, and is valued at approximately KRW 215 billion. Under the terms of the contract, Sama Aluminium will supply aluminium foil used as cathode current collectors in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), with France as the designated supply region. ACC, established in 2020, is a European battery manufacturer jointly founded by Saft (a subsidiary of TotalEnergies), Stellantis, and Mercedes-Benz.
